Dujon Sterling has settled Rangers contract issue amid losing run, Danny Rohl can’t ignore the evidence
Dujon Sterling is heading into a pivotal stage of his Rangers career as his contract at Ibrox has just one year left to run at the moment.
The right-back missed the entire first half of the campaign amid a recovery from a long-term injury, but has since returned to become a key part of Danny Rohl’s squad in recent months.
The Gers had looked set to mount their most serious challenge for the Scottish Premiership title in years, but have now seen their season fall apart after four consecutive defeats following the league split.
Rangers’ awful run of form has placed Rohl under huge pressure from some sections of supporters, while the futures of several players must now be under the microscope.
Sterling’s future at Rangers must be settled one way or another this summer, and it will surely now be a straightforward decision after the latest evidence.

Rangers need to make a decision on Sterling’s future in the coming months, as the club won’t want to lose him on a free transfer next summer.
They are facing a decision between putting a new contract on the table for the 26-year-old or trying to cash in, and that call has surely been made for them in recent weeks.

| Apps (Starts) | 14 (11) |
| Defensive Contributions per 90 | 8.43 |

Sterling has started in three matches during the disastrous four-game spell of late, and has been far from impressive.
In the 3-2 defeat to Motherwell that marked the start of this awful run, two of the visitors’ three goals came down Sterling’s side of the pitch, as his team were punished for his lapses in concentration.
He has since been part of a backline that has fallen apart at the worst possible stage of the season, and that cannot be allowed to pass by Rohl and the club hierarchy.
Rangers need to become far more consistent across the board if they are to win the Scottish Premiership title next term, and that simply must be the goal after an admirable effort this term.
Sterling has proven in recent weeks that he is too error-prone for a team that wants to challenge for trophies on all fronts, and with that in mind, it surely makes sense for Rangers to try to cash in on him.
Gers to need cash for summer rebuild
Former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that finishing third will be “very damaging” for Rangers finances, as they are left in a difficult situation in terms of European football.
The revenue hit that the Ibrox outfit are set to take will mean that they have to think very carefully about every move to strengthen their squad this summer, as they won’t want to waste cash on poor additions.
With that in mind, Rohl will surely be looking to move some players on in order to fund new arrivals, as cash will need to be raised from other avenues in order to strengthen the squad.
Sterling’s recent performances have surely made him a clear candidate to fall into that category, especially considering this is Rangers’ final chance to get any money for him.
As a result, if any clubs come forward and show an interest in the defender ahead of next season, then it would surely be wise for Rangers to take an offer.
