Dusan Vlahovic to Everton: ‘This is a marquee signing, biggest made in a long time’

Everton have emerged as surprise contenders to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic in this summer’s transfer window.

The 25-year-old is expected to be available as his current contract is set to run until 2026, placing a number of elite sides across Europe on alert.

As a result, the Toffees have also joined the race to agree a potential cut-price deal as they aim to strengthen David Moyes’ side.

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has told Football Insider that the deal would represent a “marquee signing” for the Toffees – “the biggest they’ve made in a long time”.

The striker has scored 55 goals and provided 11 assists in 135 games since making the move to Juventus in 2022 and remains one of the most highly-rated forwards in Europe.

However, Everton are expected to face competition from top sides as Football Insider exclusively revealed in October that Arsenal are readying a move for Vlahovic.

Everton join Arsenal and Aston Villa in Dusan Vlahovic race

Football Insider revealed Tottenham have joined the race for Vlahovic alongside Newcastle, Aston Villa and long-term admirers Arsenal.

Sources say a fee as low as £25million could be enough to sign the Serbia international, and Robinson has claimed Everton could make the move if PSR limitations allow.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson explained that Moyes could sell the move to Vlahovic as they aim to make consistent progress after moving into their new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium.

He’s a top player and that is a marquee signing,” he told Football Insider.

“It’s the type of signing Everton fans want to see coming through the door.

“Vlahovic is still only 25, he’s got 14 goals this season and granted it’s not been his most prolific season, but the big Serbian would be a huge signing.

“He would be a huge part of David Moyes‘ jigsaw.

“Obviously, PSR has to be taken into consideration, but if he’s available he’ll be down to the last 12 months on his contract and the price tag might drop.

“If there’s a way of bringing him in, with the direction they’re moving in under David Moyes and at their new stadium, the option is there.

“There’s a lot of attraction for players to come to Everton if Moyes can sell it – so why not?

“He would be a huge signing for them, the biggest signing they’ve made in a long time, but there will obviously be competition for him.”

David Moyes plots striker signing after Calvert-Lewin latest

The signing of a new striker has emerged among the priorities for Moyes’ side this summer amid growing frustrations about their current options.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has attracted interest from Newcastle as his deal is set to expire in June, leaving Everton short of numbers to lead the line.

Beto has improved since Moyes’ appointment to replace Sean Dyche, but many at Goodison are not convinced he is the best long-term option.

Alongside their ambitious aim to sign Vlahovic, they have also been linked with a move to sign Tammy Abraham, while Rangers striker Hamza Igamane is also a target.
