Early Leeds team news: Midfielder recalled, defender illness scare – reliable journalist
By Alex Stevens
Pablo Hernandez is set to be recalled to the Leeds team that take on Huddersfield in the Yorkshire derby on Sunday, according to a reliable journalist.
The Spanish playmaker was surprisingly dropped to the bench in midweek, when Leeds secured a last-gasp league win against Blackburn at Ewood Park.
Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent Phil Hay took to Twitter on Sunday morning after arriving at the John Smiths Stadium for the 12pm kick-off that pits fourth-placed Leeds against Huddersfield in fifth.
Hay claimed on his personal Twitter account that Hernandes is expected to start against David Warner’s team, and also revealed that key centre-back Kyle Bartley has “been a bit under the weather”.
But he reported that Bartley is expected to fight off the illness and take his place in the starting XI for the Championship fixture.
Hernandez and Bartley have both been key members of the team that have secured a string of consistent results in recent months.
The four-times Spain international is used as the attacking midfield playmaker in Garry Monk’s side, while Bartley is a mainstay of the central defence alongside partner Pontus Jansson.
In other Leeds team news, Monk has made a shock transfer revelation after meeting with new owner Andrea Radrizzani.
