Eddie Nketiah: Major Everton update after talks

Everton are set to miss out on Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah despite the collapse of his Nottingham Forest move, sources have told Football Insider.

Nketiah had been in advanced talks over a move to the City Ground for around £30million but the deal is now off with Forest now turning their attention to Feyenoord star Santiago Gimenez.

Football Insider revealed last week (17 August) that Everton are readying a loan bid for the Arsenal striker before the 30 August deadline.

However, the Merseysiders won’t get a free run at Nketiah with Crystal Palace keen on a permanent move for the 25-year-old.

Everton can only sanction a loan in the final days of the summer window, while Arsenal are still prioritising a sale.

The Toffees are keen to add a striker before the deadline amid uncertainty over the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin – who has less than 12 months on his contract.

Nketiah is yet to appear for Arsenal in the new campaign but has been on the bench for both Premier League games.

He hit six goals in 37 appearances across all competitions last term but started in just 13 of those outings.

The one-time England international is under contract at the Emirates Stadium until June 2027.
