Eddie Nketiah sends message to fans after scoring against Arsenal
Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah is looking forward to their next game after scoring against his former club in their 3-2 League Cup defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday (December 18).
The 25-year-old scored a late goal to make it tense but it was too little too late, and Gabriel Jesus’s hattrick was enough to see Arsenal through to the sem-finals.
Nketiah has struggled since permanently leaving his boyhood club in the summer, starting just eight of his 14 games across all competitions, scoring two goals, and providing one assist in 733 minutes of action.
Oliver Glasner’s side appear to have navigated their way through a torrid start to the season, winning two and drawing three of their last five Premier League games, including a 2-2 draw with current champions Man City.
Palace now sit in 15th, four points above the relegation zone as they prepare to face Arsenal once again on Saturday (December 21).
Crystal Palace ace Eddie Nketiah has no time for pleasantries after scoring against Arsenal
Nketiah, a product of Arsenal’s famed Hale End academy, struggled to secure a consistent starting role during his time at the North London club.
Despite his efforts, he managed 35 goals in 149 appearances, with his only loan spell coming in the form of an ill-fated spell at Leeds United.
The striker took to Instagram after the game, thanking the fans for their support, saying: “We go again on Saturday, thank you for your support.”

Palace have just three games remaining in December, including their second fixture against Arsenal, and a potential ‘six-pointer’ with bottom-placed Southampton.
Arsenal will no doubt be hoping for another win over their South London counterparts are they seek to remain within touching distance of Chelsea and Liverpool in the race for the title.
