Ederson breaks social media silence after Man City axe
Man City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes has posted on social media after he was dropped by Pep Guardiola for their 2-0 Premier League defeat to Liverpool on Sunday (December 1).
Guardiola decided to go with second-choice shot-stopper Stefan Ortega, 32, at Anfield as they fell to their sixth defeat in seven games across all competitions.
With Ederson, 31, between the sticks for their last six fixtures both domestically and in Europe, City have conceded 19 goals—over half of their total from their entire Premier League campaign last season (38).
Ortega conceded four goals and kept two clean sheets in his previous four games, yielding 360 minutes of combined action in the League Cup and Champions League.
City have the worst Premier League defensive record of the traditional ‘top six,’ with Ederson conceding 17 goals and keeping just two clean sheets across his 1080 minutes, totaling 19 after the Liverpool defeat.

The defeat to Liverpool not only sees Guardiola’s side go eleven points behind them in the race for the Premier League title, they’ve called out of the top four entirely.
This City side are in uncharted waters; the legendary Spaniard has never endured such a run throughout his managerial career.
Ederson has since taken to Instagram to wish his wife Lais a happy birthday, captioning his recent story, “Happy birthday, my love, you deserve all the happiness in the world thank you for always looking after our family you are an incredible woman I love you.”
City face high-flying Nottingham Forest on Wednesday (December 4) as Guardiola aims to put their dismal run behind them.
The current champions have a tricky run of fixtures throughout the festive period, including games against Juventus, Man United, and Aston Villa.
