El Ghazi tipped to dazzle at West Ham after source reveals ‘really exciting’ Moyes plan – pundit

Noel Whelan has backed David Moyes to transform West Ham target Anwar El Ghazi into a “really exciting player”.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 26-year-old would be a “good squad option” for the Irons.

This site exclusively revealed on Saturday (1 January) that West Ham are plotting a January move for Aston Villa star El Ghazi, with the Midlands club willing to listen to permanent and loan offers.

A Hammers source has told Football Insider that the winger is on Moyes’ radar as the Irons look to sign an attacker in the newly-opened window.

Whelan claimed the Scottish boss could help the Netherlands international find much-needed consistency in his game.

“He’d be a good squad option for West Ham and David Moyes,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“He’s a really exciting player on his day. Obviously, he’s out of favour at Aston Villa right now, but we’ve seen what he can do during his time there.

“He’s a strong, quick winger, goes past people for fun, like they’re not there at times – but it’s about finding that consistency for him.

“One thing David Moyes can do, however, is get those extra levels out of players and improve their performances. We’ve seen it with almost everyone he’s brought in.

“He’s built a really strong foundation, and if he can add El Ghazi to that – he could have a really exciting player on his hands.

“If anyone can do it, it’s Moyes.”

West Ham sit fourth and are set to take part in the Europa League knockout stage next month.

El Ghazi has failed to start a league game for Aston Villa since the arrival of Steven Gerrard in November.
