Elliot Anderson is blowing the rest of the Premier League out of the water with this absurd Forest stat

Nottingham Forest will have a huge fight on their hands to keep hold of Elliot Anderson in the next 12 months.

Manchester City are interested in a move for Anderson, with Pep Guardiola reportedly seeing the midfielder as a potential replacement for Rodri.

The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner is yet to return to the levels that he showed before he was struck down with an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament, with his drop-off massively affecting the Citizens.

Manchester United are also eyeing Anderson, as Ruben Amorim attempts to freshen up his midfield.

Casemiro is expected to leave Manchester United when his contract expires next year, with the 33-year-old coming towards the end of his career.

Elliot Anderson dominates in Premier League stat

Anderson’s rise this season has been a sight to behold. The midfielder has become among the first choices for England, and has been hugely impressive in the Premier League, despite his team’s form.

Football Insider revealed on Friday that Nottingham Forest are expected to increase their £100million asking price on Anderson, such has the 23-year-old stunned onlookers.

No player has won more duels in the Premier League than the former Newcastle United man, who also excels on the ball.

Anderson completes several dribbles every game, creates plenty of chances for his teammates and sometimes seems incapable of losing the ball.

Most impressive, however, is the number of recoveries that the Nottingham Forest man records.

Ball recoveries are actions where a player regains possession after it has been lost or contested – a stat that, due to their role and position, goalkeepers excel in.

As per Statmuse, 14 of the 15 players to have recovered the most balls in the Premier League this season are goalkeepers. The only outfielder, Anderson, sits third in that list, having recorded 125.

The midfielder’s closest outfield competition is from Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, who has recorded 93.

Anderson is ‘one of the best midfielders in the Premier League’

Anderson made his England debut in September, and has become a key part of Thomas Tuchel‘s squad in the games since.

Speaking about the 23-year-old last month, the German said: “At the moment he is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

“That’s why he is with us and why he starts for us, because he deserves it. He is nothing but impressive and he has to keep on going.

“He is a very complete, mobile central midfielder. Elliot at the moment is an elite football player with the right attitude and talent.”

Whether Nottingham Forest can keep hold of a player attracting acclaim of such a level remains to be seen.
