26-year-old forward sidelined for Leeds v Millwall clash with thigh injury – confirmed

Tom Elliott will be sidelined for Millwall’s clash against his former club Leeds United due to a thigh injury, it has been confirmed.

The powerful forward, 26, is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering the quad problem in the London club’s final training session before last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Wolves.

Elliott, who began his career at Elland Road, sat out Tuesday’s feisty 2-2 derby at QPR and will be out until October with his injury.

“Tom is not going to make the weekend,” said Millwall boss Neil Harris, as quoted by London News Online. “Tom is going to be ruled out for another three weeks at least.”

Elliott is a product of the Leeds academy but played only four times for their senior side before joining Hamilton Academical on a free transfer in January 2011.

The striker joined Millwall from AFC Wimbledon this summer and has made a big impact, scoring three goals in six matches.

Elliott’s fellow Millwall striker Lee Gregory has also been ruled out of the showdown at the New Den due to suspension.

The Lions confirmed on their official Twitter account on Thursday afternoon that their bid to overturn the red card Gregory received against QPR on Tuesday night has failed.

The striker, 29, will serve a three-match ban for a tackle on Josh Scowen four minutes before the break in the Loftus Road clash.

The absence of the pair will be a boost to Leeds, who top the league and are on a remarkable run of six consecutive clean sheets.

Christiansen’s side have not conceded in the Championship since the opening match of the season, which they won 3-2 at Bolton Wanderers.

In other Leeds United team news, the Yorkshire giants and Newcastle United have made rival bids to sign a defender and he has now agreed a deal.
