Emerson Royal: Tottenham star agrees terms as deal finalised
AC Milan are in advanced talks to sign Tottenham defender Emerson Royal and a full agreement is now imminent, sources have told Football Insider.
The full-back has agreed on personal terms with the Serie A giants over a deal expected to be finalised this week.
AC Milan had a bid rejected for the 25-year-old several weeks ago, but talks were resurrected and the two clubs are now close to a total agreement.
Spurs had rejected offers to sell Royal in January, but Ange Postecoglou has since decided he’s surplus to requirements.
Football Insider previously reported that the Premier League club are looking for an offer in the region of £20million for him.
Spurs aim to sell Royal and reinvest the money in a younger player who can develop under Postecoglou over a longer period.
AC Milan are bringing in an experienced defender in Emerson Royal
The Brazil international is an experienced defender, having made 231 appearances throughout his career in various leagues and competitions.
He has played 79 times for Tottenham, with 24 of those games coming last season as he featured regularly due to injuries.
Royal is also versatile, having the ability to play further up the pitch in right-midfield if needed.
At the other end of the field, Tottenham are looking to strengthen their squad by adding a new attacking option.
Football Insider revealed that Spurs are in talks with Lille about signing Jonathan David.
