Emerson sends West Ham message after his Aston Villa heroics

Emerson has sent a message to West Ham United fans following their hard-fought 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on Sunday (26 January).

The Hammers came back from behind after Jacob Ramsey opened the scoring in the eighth minute, with Emerson finding the equaliser with a header deep into the second half as he met Edson Alvarez’s cross.

However, Keith Hackett exclusively revealed to Football Insider that West Ham were “very fortunate” to keep Alvarez on the pitch following his decision to stop a Villa counter-attack.

The result helped push West Ham further away from the relegation zone, with the club currently sitting 14th.

It continued Graham Potter’s mixed run of results going, with the new boss having guided the team to two defeats, one win, and a draw since replacing Julen Lopetegui.

West Ham will face Chelsea in their next Premier League fixture on Monday (3February) as they attempt to continue driving up the table.

Emerson believes West Ham will keep fighting

Emerson was proud of his impact on the game as he scored his second goal of the season for the Hammers.

The defender took to Instagram to say, “Not the result we wanted, but proud of the team’s performance and happy with the goal. We’ll keep fighting! #COYI”

Emerson has started 20 Premier League matches this season and has scored twice and provided one assist.

However, the Irons have struggled defensively after conceding 44 goals, with only the bottom four clubs having let in more at this point.
