Emile Smith Rowe: Planned Arsenal move amazes ‘stunned’ pundit
Arsenal should not sell Emile Smith Rowe as he has the capability to break back into the starting line-up.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson claimed the Englishman is an “outstanding” player and, when fully fit, would be selected over other Gunners stars.
As revealed by Football Insider (17 February), Newcastle United and Aston Villa are keen on the 23-year-old while Mikel Arteta’s side are weighing up options regarding his departure.
Smith Rowe has been hampered by injuries in recent years, including missing nine games this season, and has made just two starts in all competitions across the current campaign.

However, Robinson was adamant that Smith Rowe will be utilised by Arteta and that the Gunners should avoid selling him – especially to strengthen fellow Champions League qualification challengers.
“He’s certainly got the ability to break back into the side,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s been really unlucky with his injuries and he’s been in and out this season.
“He’s a quality player and a proven player in the Premier League.
“We know what he’s capable of at that level.
“Where Arsenal are at the moment – they’re serious title contenders and serious Champions League contenders.
“Next season, they will be competing on all fronts.
“They’ll need a big squad and you can’t let players like Emile Smith Rowe leave the club because he’s outstanding.

“He can start games and at times, when he’s on a good run of form, you’d pick him above other players.
“I’d be very shocked if Mikel Arteta would be willing to let him go and willing to strengthen a near-rival like Newcastle or Aston Villa. There’s no way they should do this”.
