Emiliano Martinez ‘on his way out’ at Aston Villa after source’s ‘huge’ reveal – pundit

Emiliano Martinez could be bombed out of Aston Villa in January after a historic “fall-out” with Unai Emery.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the stopper’s future.

On Monday (28 November), sources told Football Insider that the long-term future of Martinez, 30, at Aston Villa is under threat amid friction with new manager Emery.

It is understood, said one source, that the pair had a “fall-out” at Arsenal during the Spaniard’s 18-month spell as the club’s manager.

McManus suspects Martinez’s days at Villa Park are numbered.

“So much has happened in the last few years that you forget that Martinez played under Emery at Arsenal,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“That could be one to keep an eye on. When you fall out with a manager that’s huge, then you go elsewhere and then link up with him again, it can be pretty awkward.

“If Martinez has a really good World Cup then a bigger club than Villa might come in for him anyway, no disrespect to Villa.

“He might be able to get out that way and then there is no real friction to be had because as soon as he gets back from the World Cup he will be off.

“That’s one to keep an eye on. If Emery didn’t fancy him at Arsenal and they fell out over something, I don’t think he will have changed his mind over the last couple of years.

“He might have an eye on another keeper to bring in anyway.

“But it wouldn’t surprise me if Martinez is on his way out at Aston Villa.”

In other news, Aston Villa could be about to terminate defender’s deal.
