Emiliano Martinez ‘planning’ Aston Villa move after source’s reveal – pundit
Emiliano Martinez is almost certain to leave Aston Villa in January after his exploits at the World Cup.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
According to French outlet Media Foot (19 December), Bayern Munich are interested in signing the Aston Villa star after first-choice shot-stopper Manuel Neuer suffered a broken leg.

Football Insider revealed last month (28 November) that the goalkeeper’s long-term future at Villa Park is under threat amid continued friction with new boss Unai Emery.
Martinez is under contract until the summer of 2027.
Wenham claims Bayern won’t be the only club in the hunt for Martinez next month.
“Martinez’s value has shot up now he is a World Cup winner,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“There have been reports about this fallout with Emery so it might suit all parties if he left in January. He’s a World Cup winner now and may be planning to leave a club that’s struggling.
“There will be interest. Plenty of clubs would jump at the chance to sign him, clubs near the top of the Premier League.
“He’s an exceptional keeper. I actually thought, because he was at Arsenal for so long, he might count as homegrown.
“Unfortunately for Villa that isn’t the case because you can put someone’s value up if they will help you pass the homegrown requirements.

“Villa will still be able to secure a sizable fee for him, that won’t be an issue, especially with his contract situation.
“You have to think he will leave now, it all adds up, the Emery thing, his performances at the World Cup. It makes sense.”
