‘End the season’ – Sunderland fans rage at ‘dreadful’ Brian Brobbey update
Sunderland fans are fearing the worst after Regis Le Bris revealed that Brian Brobbey is one of a number of his players who is facing a spell on the sidelines.
Sunderland were beaten 3-1 by Fulham at the Stadium of Light last Sunday as they slipped down to 12th place in the Premier League.
They have been one of the surprise packages in the top-flight following their promotion from the Championship, but have experienced some tough moments as of late, with four defeats in their last five league outings.
The Black Cats also suffered numerous injury blows last weekend as both Nordi Mukiele and Jocelin Ta Bi had to be taken off in the first half with respective issues.
Manager Le Bris has been speaking to the media ahead of their trip to Bournemouth on Saturday, and revealed that several Sunderland stars, including Brobbey, are facing time in the treatment room.
Sunderland fans in distress as Regis Le Bris reveals Brian Brobbey injury concerns
Brobbey led the line against Fulham but was taken off without scoring in the 70th minute, in a change that seemed to be purely tactical at the time.
Le Bris has now revealed that the Dutch striker faces up to a month out with a groin injury, after he needed medical treatment last weekend.
He has scored five goals in 22 league games for the Black Cats this season, and is not the only player out injured, with Mukiele set to be out for three weeks with a calf injury and Ta Bi and Romaine Mundle both potentially needing surgery.
Sunderland fans are up in arms about the latest news from the Stadium of Light, with many fans fearing for the next few games without Brobbey to spearhead the attack.
Taking to X, one fan said: “Brobbey out is the big blow. He makes a huge difference in how we play.”
Another posted: “Losing Brobbey is really bad. Isidor seriously needs to step up.”
While one supporter added: “Mukiele and Brobbey are huge losses. The thought of Isidor leading the line again when he has clearly lost interest,” with an angry emoji.
Le Bris faces Wilson Isidor vs Eliezer Mayenda conundrum after Brobbey blow
Sunderland are the third-lowest scorers in the Premier League as it stands, and Brobbey is their top scorer so far with just five strikes.
He is set to be a huge miss for games against Bournemouth, Leeds, Brighton and possibly arch-rivals Newcastle, with Le Bris now needing to turn to one of his backup strikers to lead the line.
The Frenchman may well call upon his compatriot Isidor, who has bagged four league goals this season but last scored against Chelsea on 25 October.
Another option is young Spaniard Mayenda, who has only scored once in 17 appearances in 2025-26, but has made more of an impact than Isidor in recent weeks and months.
Neither player seems like the ideal candidate to step in for the injured Brobbey, but based on his scoring record and lofty potential, it does seem likely that Le Bris picks Isidor to start this weekend.
