England fans slam ‘bang average’ and ‘very overrated’ star during Latvia clash
England may have qualified for the World Cup next summer, but one star may be fighting for his place in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane netted first half goals, alongside a second half own goal and Eze strike, to send England to north America with a 5-0 victory where they will be competing to win their second World Cup.
England beat Wales 3-0 days earlier in the international break to cap off another successful period for Tuchel’s side.
Jude Bellingham’s absence from the England squad, alongside the likes of Cole Palmer, was not missed as the Three Lions eased past both opponents.

Myles Lewis-Skelly blasted for ‘dreadful’ performance
Myles Lewis-Skelly was restored to the England starting XI for the trip to Latvia after Djed Spence had been given the nod against Wales.
However, amid Lewis-Skelly struggling for game time at Arsenal, the 19-year-old failed to increase his claim that he should be England’s regular starting left-back.
One England fan posted: “Not sure in what world Lewis-Skelly should be getting in the England set up over Tyrick Mitchell.”
Whilst another commented: “Lewis-Skelly will cost us at the World Cup if he starts imo.“
One England fans also believes Lewis-Skelly could cost the Three Lions: “Lewis-Skelly is very overrated. His simple lack of discipline makes him a liability and his other attributes do not make up for that.“
Another option was also mentioned amid Lewis-Skelly’s display: “Don’t rate Lewis-Skelly at all, get a fit Lewis Hall in this team and we are flying.”
More harsh words were posted on the Arsenal star: “Myles Lewis-Skelly might be the worst left back I’ve seen for England in five years.”
“Lewis-Skelly has been genuinely dreadful, very surprising,” was another social media post.
Left-back spot up for grabs in England squad
Whilst England have options at left-back, no player has yet to nail down the position with Lewis-Skelly facing competition for his place.
Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell is still not being recognised for his performances by Tuchel, whilst Tino Livramento is another name that could oust Lewis-Skelly.
Spence still started against Latvia, but at right-back, with his flexibility to play on either flank potentially working in his favour.
