‘Enough is enough’ – Liverpool fans fume after Leeds United scenes, want Arne Slot sacked
Arne Slot appears to be quickly running out of time to save his job after yet more disappointment against Leeds United.
Hugo Ekitike helped Liverpool to a two-goal lead at Elland Road on Saturday, 6 December, despite a bright first-half display from the home side, who are battling relegation.
Leeds will have been riding high after beating Chelsea, and the players clearly took inspiration from that as Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach, and Ao Tanaka scored to steal a point at the death in a 3-3 draw.
Ibrahima Konate got the ball rolling by conceding a penalty, and the Reds always looked under pressure away from home as Leeds pushed for their second consecutive game without defeat.
Liverpool fans’ calls for Arne Slot sack grow louder
Slot is only becoming likelier to be sacked, with Jurgen Klopp in the conversation to replace him, and the Anfield faithful are losing patience despite his winning the Premier League title last season.
Labelling Liverpool’s current form as “the biggest drop-off in Premier League history”, supporters are more than ready for a change in management, with some waiting for a club announcement very soon.
Of course, fans have been quick to blame Konate for the demise at Elland Road, and rightly so, but the manager is also being blamed for playing the Frenchman over and over again.
Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result… Insanity from Slot?
- @brian_mccaul: “The team mentally crumbled again. Starting with another Konate brain fart, and then an inability to defend corners. Disappointing.”
- @WilcoFtbl: “That’s it, enough is enough. Sack Arne Slot. Our form has been appalling, with no sign of turning it around. Can’t get worse, so bring change.”
What did Slot have to say after the scenes at Elland Road?
The Dutchman appears happy to share the blame, stating that “we are the only ones to blame”, and that is only likely to infuriate supporters even more now.
His decisions on the starting lineup, his substitutions, and his tactics are all being scrutinised, and while it is the players on the pitch, he should be taking accountability for his team’s failures.
Cracks were starting to show at Elland Road, but instead of getting involved on the sidelines, he sat back and watched the Reds implode during the six-goal thriller. It could have been even worse.
Farke’s side absolutely deserved the draw as well, having adapted to the challenges ahead of them, but Slot has repeatedly shown an inability to do that, and it could see him sacked this season.
