Enzo Fernandez reaction spotted after new Sanchez Chelsea calamity at Man City

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez was spotted reacting in despair after Robert Sanchez’s latest mistake against Man City.

The Blues had taken an early lead, after a massive mistake from City new boy Abdukodir Khusanov, as Nicolas Jackson set-up Noni Madueke in the third minute.

However, City would level through Josko Gvardiol just before the interval, assisted by Matheus Nunes.

The main talking point in the match came in the 68th minute, as Erling Haaland received a long-ball from his goalkeeper, Ederson, beat Trevoh Chalobah and made Sanchez pay for being so far off his line by chipping the ball over him.

Fernandez was seen turning and walking away, whilst shaking his head, and then covering his face in disgust at his keeper’s error.

Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event, former Man United captain Gary Neville said (6.57pm): “I’m not sure what the goalkeeper’s doing, he’s not good enough him. It’s a really poor decision from Chelsea’s number-one goalkeeper and Haaland doesn’t make a mistake…

“Chelsea, they deserve this, they’ve let the game drift, they’ve not done enough, they’ve not been positive enough and taken risks.”

Commentator Rob Hawthorne said as a replay showed the reaction: “Well, disaster for one goalkeeper but an assist for the man at the opposite end. No wonder Enzo Fernandez shakes his head. You can’t give Haaland opportunities like that and expect to get away with it.”

Chelsea continue to suffer from goalkeeping mistakes

The mistake from Sanchez marks his second in two Premier League games, after fans called for the Spaniard to be sold after their 3-1 win over Wolves.

Chelsea have made multiple moves in the goalkeeping department this January, and fans are now keen to see Filip Jorgensen be given an opportunity in net.

The Blues were Liverpool’s main challengers to the Premier League title, before a poor run of form that has seen them win only once in their last seven league games.

Whilst not totally to blame, Sanchez has been a liability for the West London side at times, and if Fernandez’s reaction is anything to go by, he does not have huge faith from his teammates.

If Chelsea are keen to compete for the Premier League title in the coming seasons, finding a reliable goalkeeper will be paramount to any future success.
