Enzo Maresca’s odds slashed to return to the Premier League with London club after Chelsea sack

Enzo Maresca’s odds to be Tottenham’s next permanent manager have shortened as Thomas Frank potentially faces the sack soon.

Maresca left Chelsea on New Year’s Day after 18 months in charge of the club, during which he won the Conference League and Club World Cup.

The Italian boss had hinted at internal tension in the weeks leading up to his exit, with their form reflecting as such after a run of just two wins in his final nine games.

Strasbourg’s Liam Rosenior is set to take charge of Chelsea as his permanent successor, with Maresca now out of work and searching for the fourth senior managerial post of his career so far.

Maresca has previously been targeted by Juventus, and is sure to draw attention from numerous top clubs that want a change of boss, with Tottenham potentially set to appoint him if Frank is dismissed soon.

Maresca’s odds to be the next Tottenham boss shorten as Frank faces sack threat

Frank is under pressure at Spurs right now after a troublesome first few months in charge following his move from Brentford to become their new manager.

They have picked up just 27 points from 20 Premier League games so far, and currently occupy 13th place after a run of one win in their last five outings.

With the Dane potentially set to leave soon, Maresca has been touted to become Spurs’ next permanent manager, at odds of 8/1, according to one of the UK’s leading bookmakers.

That shortened price sees him enter the running as the joint-third favourite, alongside Marco Silva, Brendan Rodgers and Andoni Iraola.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is the bookies’ leading candidate for the role, at 5/1 odds, while he is followed by former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who comes in at 6/1.

Which other jobs is Maresca in the running for?

Maresca did have some really positive moments in charge of Chelsea, and his availability is certainly set to make him an attractive appointment for clubs that may be looking for a new manager soon.

Man United are after a new boss after Ruben Amorim was sacked on Monday, and Maresca is believed to be in the running as the second favourite to be their next permanent manager, at 19/4 odds.

Maresca is believed to be on Man City’s shortlist if Pep Guardiola leaves his post in the summer, and the latest odds reflect such reports, as he is the 11/8 favourite to be in the Etihad Stadium dugout after the legendary Spaniard.

Xabi Alonso has also been under pressure at Real Madrid, and the Italian boss is 8/1 to take that job next, behind Klopp and Zinedine Zidane as the third favourite, according to the bookmakers.
