Dier offers honest assessment of Tottenham draw v Swansea
By Russell Edge
Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier has said that his side’s performance in their 0-0 draw at home to Swansea on Saturday was “frustrating”.
The North London side came into the match on the back of an impressive 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, while their last Premier League match saw them brush aside Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park.
However they were unable to replicate their attacking form against a resolute Swansea side, who limited opportunities and stifled the creative flair of the Tottenham stars.
Speaking after the match, versatile midfielder Eric Dier offered an honest assessment of his side’s performance.
He told Spurs TV, available via the club’s official Twitter account: “We completely dominated from start to finish.
“We still believe we’re good enough to break teams down and that wasn’t the case today so it’s very frustrating.
“We just lacked a bit of quality on that final pass, or that final shot.”
Dier has appeared in all six of of Spurs’ matches across both league and cup competitions, but is yet to find the net or contribute an assist.
The 20-time-capped England international has 141 appearances for the North London club since joining from Portuguese side Sporting back in 2014, scoring eight goals.
Tottenham currently sit in fifth place with eight points in the Premier League, while their next match sees them play host to Championship side Barnsley in the League Cup on Tuesday.
Their next top flight match sees them make the short trip across London to take on West Ham next weekend.
In other Tottenham news, the club have been linked with scouting three Champions League stars.
