Erling Haaland closes in on record as stunning details emerge
Erling Haaland has 18 games left to beat one of Alan Shearer’s goalscoring records in the Premier League.
Haaland has had a magnificent start to the season, scoring 11 top-flight goals in just eight games.
Across all competitions, including his appearances for Norway, the centre-forward has already found the net a remarkable 23 times, and we are midway through October.
On Saturday (18 October), the 25-year-old bagged a brace as Man City beat Everton 2-0, meaning he is just four goals away from another Premier League record.

Erling Haaland racing to beat Alan Shearer’s record
Haaland has now scored 96 Premier League goals in total, from 105 appearances, and is on track to become the fastest player ever to join the 100 club.
The current record holder is former Newcastle United and Blackburn striker Shearer, who reached a century of Premier League goals after just 124 games.
It means that Man City’s talisman only needs to find the back of the net four times in his next 18 appearances in the top-flight in order to topple the former England international.
This season, Haaland is scoring 1.375 goals per game in the Premier League, and if he continues at that rate, it will take him just three more matches to break the record.
Pep Guardiola’s side face Aston Villa, Bournemouth and then Liverpool in the top-flight, meaning their Norwegian centre-forward is on track to hit his century of goals against the current champions.
When will Haaland break Shearer’s all-time Premier League record?
Haaland signed a massive nine and a half year contract with Man City last January, which would see him remain at the Etihad until 2034.

If he sees out the remainder of his current deal in Manchester, then he will surely break Shearer’s all-time Premier League goalscoring record of 260.
The real question is, how soon will he do it?
With 96 goals in 105 appearances, Haaland is scoring at a rate of 0.914 goals per game.
The Norwegian international needs to find the net another 165 times in the top-flight in order to beat Shearer’s record, and based on his current speed, that would take him 181 games.
Barring any serious injuries, that means that Haaland should score his 261st Premier League goal right at the end of 2029/30 campaign.
