Erling Haaland could U-turn on Man City transfer after journalist’s update – La Liga expert

Erling Haaland could U-turn on a move to Man City in favour of a move to Real Madrid.

That is the view of former Arsenal striker and La Liga TV pundit Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the race to sign the 21-year-old this summer.

This site revealed on 12 February that Man City are in pole position to sign Haaland in the summer transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail‘s Craig Hope (11 March), the Premier League champions have a deal in place to sign the Borussia Dortmund striker.

It is said that personal terms have been discussed with the framework of the transfer ready to be signed off by Man City.

It comes after The Athletic‘s David Ornstein claimed (7 March) the centre-forward would make a decision on whether to join Real Madrid or City soon.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Haaland’s future, Campbell said:

“Man City have been consistently better than Real Madrid over the last few years. Real Madrid are rebuilding though and their name carries so much weight. That football club is arguably the biggest in the world.

“Madrid are building a young, vibrant, quick team. [Carlos] Ancelotti has the likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and [Eduardo] Camavinga playing. They are a really good side. Let’s not forget that they are top of La Liga.

“People will say they have already got [Karim] Benzema but he can play off the front. The rumours are they want [Kylian] Mbappe as well. Could you imagine those players with Haaland as well. Wow.

“Haaland might want to come to the Premier League though. At the end of the day, the Premier League is a massive draw in itself.

“They are two great options so he can only make a decision, he cannot make a wrong one. ”

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed a new ‘seven-figure’ Man City deal is set to be ‘scrutinised’ by the Premier League.
