Erling Haaland: Mills issues verdict on Man City signing superstar after source’s Alf Inge reveal
Man City will not be desperate to sign Erling Haaland in the summer, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England full-back claimed Pep Guardiola’s side are “incredible” despite not operating without a frontline striker this season.
A City source told Football Insider on Saturday (12 February) they are in pole position to sign Haaland this summer as his father Alf Inge is telling him to join his former club.
The 21-year-old superstar will be available for just £68million when the transfer window opens due to a release clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract.
“City won’t be regretting not signing a striker in the summer,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“They are nine points clear, and okay, Liverpool have a game in hand but so what?
“Guardiola is proving yet again that you don’t necessarily need a striker. He’s got so many good options, so many talented players in those areas that they can afford to chop and change and dip in and out.
“Their form is incredible. The way that they play is so unique. Ask Pep Guardiola, do they need someone else? It doesn’t look like it at the moment.

“If they don’t win the Champions League people will say they should have got Harry Kane last summer. But we’ve seen in the past Man City will not be held to ransom to transfer fees and you can’t really argue with it.
“They won’t be desperate for Haaland, they don’t need to be. They’ve got plenty of alternatives in the squad. When you look at their attacking options they are absolutely exceptional.”
