European giants send scouts to watch Liverpool 23-year-old – report
By Dominic Toner
Juventus are interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Emre Can, according to a report.
Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport claim that the European giants are eyeing the a move for the 23-year-old central midfielder.
The report details that the Serie A club are believed to have been scouting the Germany international over the past few weeks.
Can has been a regular feature for Liverpool this season and featured in 22 appearances, scoring three goals and supplying two assists.
The central midfielder usually operates in front of the defence and is more comfortable defending.
He completed his move to Anfield in 2014 from Bayer Leverkusen and has already racked up 111 appearances for the Merseyside club.
Football Insider verdict:
Liverpool should reject any potential move for Can as he is an important member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad. The German is best suited to the defensive midfield role, but can also be used as a make-shift defender if needed. He was a mainstay in the side last season and emerged as one of the most consistent performers in the side, but is facing a battle for his place this term. He is competing alongside team-mates Georginio Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson for a starting spot. Can is often criticised by the Liverpool supporters and it’s sometimes unjust, with the 23-year-old a steady option in the midfield. He still has time to develop his game at his age and is certainly a good long-term option for the Reds.
