‘Evan Ferguson set to emulate Tammy Abraham at Roma amid Brighton exit news’
Evan Ferguson has been tipped to shine for Roma as the Ireland striker’s Brighton departure draws closer.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a majorly successful breakout season in 2022/23, scoring 10 goals and producing three assists in 25 appearances.
However, Ferguson has subsequently struggled in front of goal and failed to score during a loan spell with West Ham United last campaign.
Meanwhile, Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Brighton want £28million for Ferguson amid their efforts to sell the forward.

Ferguson told he can excel in Serie A amid Roma interest
Former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Celtic were confident of signing Ferguson.
Meanwhile, the former West Ham forward has been linked with a move to Roma, who have enjoyed the services of ex-Premier League striker Tammy Abraham in recent seasons.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [8 July], Jeff Stelling outlined: “I think it’s essential for him that he gets some regular football and maybe out of the spotlight of the British media as well, and just look at the players who’ve gone to Italy.
“The obvious ones, (Scott) McTominay, Billy Gilmour, Lewis Ferguson. Tammy Abraham has gone there, Che Adams, and have done well.
“So he’s a boy who burst on the scene. I just think it would be a great deal, potentially, for both parties.”
Ferguson could perform for Roma after Brighton exit
Football Insider verdict
Similarly to Ferguson, Abraham initially established a rich vein of form in the Premier League, notching 15 goals during the 2019/20 top-flight season for Chelsea.
Evan Ferguson stats | Premier League 2024/25 |
Appearances | 21 |
Goals | 1 |
Assists | 0 |
But he then went on to score just six Premier League goals in a significantly less successful 2020/21 campaign for the West Londoners.
Abraham consequently joined Roma in 2021 and went on to produce an impressive return of 27 goals and five assists in 53 appearances in 2021/22
As alluded to by Stelling, the likes of McTominay and Gilmour have also excelled in the Italian top flight after falling out of favour in the Premier League.
Ferguson will be under an enormous amount of pressure if Roma acquire his services and expect him to produce a similar impact to Abraham.
However, former Southampton striker Adams, who struggled in the Premier League, scored a respectable 10 goals in 38 appearances for Torino last season, which is the sort of form that the Brighton man could emulate, or even better.
