Evanilson reacts to Wolves star Joao Gomes’ latest amid Liverpool transfer rumours

Joao Gomes gained plenty of attention on social media as the Wolves stars continued to celebrate a well-earned victory over West Ham on Tuesday.

Vitor Pereira and his Wolves backroom staff went “insane” at full-time as Jorgen Strand Larsen’s first-half goal was enough to seal all three points at Molineux Stadium on 1 April.

The victory meant the Midlands club were able to move 12 points above the relegation zone, though that was until Ipswich Town’s surprise win against Bournemouth, but it was still a key victory.

Wolves have been at massive risk of playing Championship football next season, and even without Matheus Cunha available on the night, they still managed the all-important win against Graham Potter’s side.

Wolves still high on life after Wolves win v West Ham

Taking to Instagram [2 April], Gomes, who Liverpool are keeping tabs on ahead of the summer, shared an image as Wolves celebrated a season-defining win over West Ham, simply captioned with a star emoji.

Joined by Yerson Mosquera and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Bournemouth’s star striker Evanilson also liked the post, just minutes after the Cherries’ shock defeat to Ipswich Town.

Vitor Pereira continues to steady the ship at Molineux Stadium

Football Insider verdict

Gomes is just one of the players to put pen to paper on a new deal at Molineux, with Mosquera also doing the same recently, which goes to show the positivity in the Midlands.

Pereira looks to have steadied the ship that was left rocking by Gary O’Neil in December, with Wolves replacing him with the Portuguese figure now at the helm.

Wolves have now lost just one of their last six matches across all competitions, albeit one of the draws seeing them knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties, but safety in the division is far more important.

While staying in the Premier League is not guaranteed, especially after Ipswich’s victory, the squad have taken a huge step towards staying in the division.

Getting multiple players to sign new contracts is also a hugely positive sign ahead of the summer transfer window because, even though Cunha is likely to leave, the bulk of the team can stay together.
