Report: Everton at the centre of PL trio to sign top-flight ace dubbed the new ‘Trezeguet’

Everton are at the centre of a transfer battle with Leicester City and Burnley as all three eye a swoop for Anderlecht attacker Mahmoud Hassan, according to a report.

ESPN state that the Blues are keen on the forward, who has picked up the nickname “Trezeguet” in reference to the France legend, after impressing during his loan spell in the Super Lig with Turkish side Kasimpasa.

However, the Turkish outfit are said have a purchase option on the 23-year-old Egyptian international, who has 14 goals this season and is out of contract with the Belgian side in 2019.

Football Insider verdict:

Attackers and high-quality ones are certainly in demand at Goodison Park where their lack of invention and pace going forward has been at the heart of a great deal of criticism levelled their way this season. Deployed mainly as a right or left winger in the Super Lig, his style of play is more reminiscent of his compatriot Mo Salah who drifts from out wide into a goalscoring position than that of David Trezeguet. The 14 goals in a total of 34 games is an impressive statistic the 23-year-old has racked up and a vast improvement on the previous campaign in the Juliper Pro League where he scored just four in the entirety of the campaign. The 5ft 8in forward failed to impress at Anderlecht but is seemingly good enough for the millions of Farhad Moshiri. What this means for the current options at Goodison Road is anyone’s guess, but it seems as though there could be yet more changes after last summer’s overhaul.
