Everton backed to beat Leeds to Che Adams signing after source’s reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie has claimed Che Adams could join Everton even if Southampton stay in the Premier League.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Adams is exactly the kind of player that the Toffees need.

On 8 March, sources told this site that Sean Dyche’s side are keen on the 26-year-old ahead of the summer window.

Leeds United are also interested in the striker after trying to sign him several times in previous transfer windows.

Everton and Leeds are believed to be willing to sign the Scotland international “in a heartbeat” if the Saints are relegated this season.

The forward has just under 18 months left on his contract at St Mary’s.

When asked if Adams could be keen on a move to Goodison Park if Southampton are relegated, McAvennie told Football Insider:I would think he would go to Everton anyway.

I think they are a big club. I like Che Adams, he plays for Scotland and he is a decent player who makes some great runs. He puts the centre-halves under a bit of pressure and I like that.

Everton

It is what Everton need, they have got players up there that are not doing it, making it too easy for the centre-halves. You need somebody that is going to harass them and put pressure on them and that is what Adams brings to the table.

That is what Everton need plus he can score goals.

In other news, according to sources, Everton put the block on ‘surprise’ Alex Iwobi sale.
