Ronald Koeman praises 23-year-old on Twitter after Sunderland victory

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has congratulated Romelu Lukaku on scoring a landmark goal in the victory over Sunderland on Saturday.

The 23-year-old netted his 60th Premier League goal for the club in the 2-0 victory over the Black Cats at Goodison Park.

The landmark goal sees the Belgium international draw level with former Toffees striker Duncan Ferguson as the club’s leading all-time goalscorer in the top-flight.

Following the game, Koeman took to his personal Twitter account to congratulate his star performer on the achievement, and praise the atmosphere during their victory on home soil.

Lukaku’s exploits are made all the more impressive by the time he took to reach Ferguson’s record, needing 110 games fewer than the former Scotland international.

His Sunderland strike also saw him join Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez at the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts for the current season with 16 goals.

His scintillating form has delighted fans, who have now seen him score five goals in his last three appearances.

Lukaku also has one goal to his name in the FA Cup this season, taking his tally to 17 goals and five assists from 26 appearances.
