Kieran Maguire: Everton could be about to appoint ‘true Evertonian’ after confirmed news
Everton could be about to appoint a “true Evertonian” to their supporter advisory board.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the soon-to-close elections for the new panel.
The Toffees announced on Thursday (2 June) that fans had one week left to cast their vote for the representative group.
Seven seats on the advisory board are reserved for supporters’ groups, while four are open to the public.
The board will be able to veto constitutional changes at executive level, such as changing kit colours or joining a new league.
Maguire outline the profile of the ideal candidate.
“What we want is people who are concerned about the long-term welfare and values of Everton,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“What they don’t want is those who are there for self-promotion, kudos for having tea and biscuits with the owners.
“They need a true Evertonian who is aware of the history and heritage. The club plays a big role in the community and that should be acknowledged.
“They also need someone who can bring a measured level of analysis. Sometimes we see knee-jerk reactions from fans on social media after disappointing results.

“You progress as a football club by looking at things on a long-term basis and building from there.
“There has been too much of a revolving door strategy and a reactionary approach. If fans can bring a sense of calm, that will help the club going forwards.”
