Everton could lose Dominic Calvert-Lewin for cut-price fee after Arsenal update – pundit

Everton will be vulnerable to losing Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a cut-price fee this summer after his poor season, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Frank Lampard will want to overhaul his squad but will not be able to command “big money” for Calvert-Lewin.

An Arsenal source told Football Insider on Wednesday (25 May) that they have been put off by the 25-year-old’s injury issues this season.

After scoring three times in the opening three games of the season, he spent the rest of 2021 out with a toe injury.

When he returned in January, Calvert-Lewin, who has three years left on his contract, found the net just twice more in 14 games across all competitions, including 12 Premier League starts.

He provided his second assist of the season in the 5-1 loss to Arsenal on Sunday (22 May).

“As much as Frank Lampard has got plaudits he will know it’s not good enough, it’s not acceptable to get beat 5-1 by Arsenal,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He will know he will need a lot of players out of that door and a lot of players in because they will struggle again next season if they are not careful.

“Lampard knows he’s got a busy summer to sort his squad of players out. They will definitely have to sell.

“But the only player they are going to get money for in that squad is Richarlison.

“Calvert-Lewin has not played much this season so his value will have gone down. I can’t see anybody spending big money on him at the moment.”
