Everton could now beat West Ham to Armando Broja signing amid ‘behind-the-scenes’ claim – pundit

Paul Robinson has claimed Frank Lampard’s “behind-the-scenes connections” at Chelsea could help Everton land Armando Broja this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said Lampard will know “just how good” the 20-year-old is from his contacts at Stamford Bridge.

Broja is the subject of interest from multiple Premier League clubs after impressing while on on loan at Southampton last season.

According to the Daily Mail‘s Simon Jones (10 July), Chelsea are set to hold talks with the striker after enquiries from West Ham, Newcastle United and Everton.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are said to value the Albania international in the region of £30million.

Broja’s contract at Stamford Bridge runs until the end of June 2026.

When asked by Football Insider if Lampard’s pre-existing relationship with Chelsea could pay dividends, Robinson said: “Frank’s connections at the club will help.

“He will know just how good Broja is. That relationship will help.

“The question is, does he have that relationship to the same extent behind the scenes at Chelsea now under their new ownership. That remains to be seen.

“There is personnel that have moved on behind the scenes. I’m not sure to what extent the relationship is there.

“His understanding and knowledge of the player could help Everton get a deal over the line though.”
