Kieran Maguire issues £14m Everton reveal as new details emerge – ‘This needs to be addressed’

It is perhaps no surprise to see Everton raise ticket prices given that they are so keen to boost their £14million-a-year matchday income to close the gap on the likes of Liverpool.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Toffees’ pricing structure for the 2022-23 campaign.

As relayed by Bloomberg last Monday (30 May), Everton are one of several Premier League sides to raise the cost of their cheapest and most expensive season tickets.

The priciest pass will now set fans back £625, while the most cost-effective is worth £465.

Goodison Park will close its doors at the end of 2023-24 ahead of the move to the new Bramley Moore Dock site.

Maguire suggested why the price increase is part of their succession planning ahead of the stadium switch.

“When Moshri came to Everton, one of the admirable things the club did was revisit the pricing structure,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“Everton’s matchday revenue decreased between 2016 and 2019 from £18m to £14m. That’s because they had a pricing structure that aimed to increase the number of fans going with a view to building up the fanbase to Bramley Moore Dock.

“Everton will sell out at Goodison but they are very conscious of the gap. In 2019, the last season pre-Covid, their matchday income was £14m. They then have Liverpool over the road at £84m.

“For every £1 generated at Goodison, it was £6 at Anfield. That needs to be addressed if they want to utilise Bramley Moore as a vehicle for progression on the pitch.”
