Everton Exclusive: David Moyes to make last-gasp Calvert-Lewin offer
David Moyes is expected to make a last-gasp attempt to convince Dominic Calvert-Lewin to stay at Everton beyond the end of the season.
This is according to former Man United, Sunderland and West Ham scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the boss will speak to the 27-year-old about where he sees his future.
Calvert-Lewin has already turned down multiple new contract offers at Goodison Park, but Moyes values him as an important part of the team and will make a final attempt to convince him.
As things stand, the striker is set to leave Merseyside nine years after moving from Sheffield United, when his contract comes to an end in June.
Football Insider revealed on 17 January that Newcastle are lining up a move to sign the striker on a free transfer and see him as the ideal replacement for Callum Wilson.
However, his future is not expected to be determined until closer to the end of the season, while he cannot enter talks with a domestic club until July.
David Moyes set for Dominic-Calvert Lewin Everton contract talks
Calvert-Lewin’s form has been criticised this season, having scored just three goals in 21 appearances, but he found the net for the first time under Moyes against Tottenham.
Brown, who worked closely with Moyes during his time at West Ham and has a wealth of experience in player recruitment after over a decade at Man United, explained that the boss will make a “huge” decision about the striker’s future after holding talks.
“There’s been a bit of talk about Calvert-Lewin’s future,” he told Football Insider.
“I think it’s probably time for him to move on from Everton
“But David Moyes has got to make a big decision about his role in his team.
“Are they going to call it a day and let him go, or does he want him to stay?
“I think he could play a big role under Moysey, and we saw already he broke his scoring duck with a goal against Tottenham.
“The fact he’s started that game shows he’s seen as an important part of the team.

“So I expect he’ll sit down with him and talk about where he sees his future and whether he could be convinced to stay at Everton.
“Then it’ll be an interesting one to watch, because sometimes the manager can make a difference.“
