Everton Exclusive: Monaco set sights on signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Monaco have set their sights on signing Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, sources have told Football Insider.

The Ligue 1 outfit ideally want to sign the 27-year-old on a free transfer next summer after his Everton contract expires, but a January deal for a fee is also a possibility.

Football Insider understands that Monaco scouts were in attendance at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday (14 December) to watch Calvert-Lewin as Everton drew 0-0 against Arsenal.

The England international is out of contract at Goodison Park next summer and will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs in January.

However, Monaco could fast-track a deal to sign the experienced striker by paying a fee to the Merseyside giants at the turn of the year.

January will mark Everton’s final opportunity to cash-in on Calvert-Lewin if the two parties are not able to come to terms on a contract extension.

Everton could be willing to accept an offer from Monaco for Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Football Insider previously revealed that Everton will listen to offers for Calvert-Lewin in January as long as the money would allow them to sign a replacement.

Sean Dyche is currently attempting to guide the club away from the Premier League relegation zone, with his side sat 15th in the table following the first 15 games.

Football Insider reported on 3 December that Calvert-Lewin is planning to run down his contract and move on, which could lead to Everton accepting a January offer if his mind is made up.

Monaco are not the only club interested in signing the 27-year-old though as AC Milan, Newcastle, and Arsenal are monitoring his situation.

Calvert-Lewin has only scored two goals this season for Everton, but has found the back of the net 70 times in 262 appearances for the football club throughout his career.
