Kieran Maguire: Multiple new deals on cards as Everton hold ‘vital’ Bramley-Moore talks

Everton are looking to forge multiple new sponsorship deals with local businesses ahead of the opening of their new stadium.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest official update from Bramley-Moore Dock.

The club announced on Thursday (1 December) that local business leaders have been given an update on the construction progress of the 52,888-seater venue.

They offered an insight into “new sponsorship opportunities” ahead of the stadium’s forecasted opening in time for the 2024-25 campaign.

Everton are still looking for an investor to help fund the remaining construction work not covered by owner Farhad Moshiri.

There are also wider financial concerns at the club after combined losses of over £370million in the last three years.

The situation has not been helped by the enforced withdrawal of beneficial Alisher Usmanov earlier this year following government sanctions relating to his links to Vladimir Putin.

Maguire claims that Everton’s decision to meet with local businesses shows their intent to “impress” potential new sponsors to help revitalise their commercial income.

“Everton certainly want to have a good relationship with prospective partners in the city,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“But at a time of economic downturn and existing macroeconomic challenges, it will be difficult to persuade sponsors to pay top dollar.

“Hopefull, they will be impressed by the facilities on offer to business partners at Bramley-Moore Dock. That is vital.

“This is part of a much longer-term in terms of focusing on commercial revenues that are significantly lower than the peer group that Everton want to be associated with

“They have taken a huge hit with the withdrawal of Alisher Usmanov.”
