‘Excellent’, ‘Best player on the pitch – Everton fans drool over one player in win v Newcastle
Everton collected all three points against Newcastle United in the Premier League on Monday night in what was a pretty dour game of football at Goodison Park.
Nonetheless, supporters were pleased with the display of Morgan Schneiderlin, who has come to the fore in the last few matches after a largely disappointing campaign all round.
He played so well that he was singled out by manager Sam Allardyce post-match who was full of praise for the Frenchman’s display.
The 28-year-old had to leave the field of play just after the interval with a dead leg but that didn’t stop fans from naming him their man of the match after the win.
One supporter said: “Credit where it’s due. He has been excellent. About time!”
And another added: “Schneiderlin is amazing when his heads on straight.”
As a result of the 1-0 win, the Blues moved up to eighth in the table.
The one moment of excitement came in the 51st minute of play when a Yannick Bolasie shot was deflected into the path of Theo Walcott, who took a touch and shot his effort into the roof of the net to put the Blues ahead.
Here is a selection of Twitter reactions from Toffees supporters about the former Manchester United midfielder:
