Everton fans react on Twitter to Calvert-Lewin display against Hull
By Alex Stevens
Calvert-Lewin scored the opening goal in Everton’s 4-0 demolition of Hull on Saturday – and supporters were mightily impressed by his display.
Calvert-Lewin broke the deadlock after nine minutes at Goodison Park, his first for the club coming on his full debut and just two days after his 20th birthday.
A late Romelu Lukaku double and an Enner Valencia strike securing a convincing win for Everton, which will be remembered especially fondly by academy product Calvert-Lewin.
The youngster, who plays in the attacking midfield positions behind the main striker, had been handed his first Premier Lesgue start and only his sixth senior appearance in total.
Supporters were delighted that a player developed by the club had made such a big impact in a Premier League fixture.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Everton’s win lifted them to sixth in the table and level on points – 50 – with fifth-placed Arsenal to keep their hopes of a top-four finish alive.
Ronald Koeman’s side have played two matches more than the London giants and remain five points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool.
In other Everton news, there is friction at the club between manager Ronald Koeman and director of football Steve Walsh.
