Everton fans react on Twitter as club close in on near-£30m deal

Everton have agreed a deal which will allow them to build a new stadium – and fans on Twitter have expressed their delight at this historic move.

The club confirmed on their official website on Thursday evening that they have signed Heads of Terms with landowners Peel Holdings to acquire a site at Bramley Moor Dock.

The Guardian claim that Peel Holdings wanted £30million for the land, but the figure that has yet to been settled on and “is expected to be lower”.

It will see the Merseyside club move from their iconic stadium, Goodison Park to a new home in the near future with no timescale given as to when the new stadium will be built.

Fans on Twitter were ecstatic with the move as they felt that Everton football club is now back on the map.

There have been a number of English clubs that have moved stadiums in recent years, Arsenal moved from Highbury to the Emirates in 2005 and West Ham moved to their new stadium this season.

One fan stated that he is already feeling anxious at the Toffees playing their final match at Goodison Park.

Furthermore, another supporter hailed owner Farhad Moshiri for leaving his mark and possible legacy on the club with this move.

One fan was hoping that the move to the new stadium will be the beginning of a long, but rewarding transformation for the Merseyside club.

Overall, the Goodison Park faithful were pleased that the senior figures have finally made a historic move that will allow them to move forward and compete at the highest level.
