Everton fans thrilled by striker signing ‘good news’ after confession
Everton fans are pushing the club to sign a new striker during the January transfer window over fears of Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s long-term fitness.
The 27-year-old striker was removed just 13 minutes into Everton’s fixture against Brighton on Saturday (25 January) after he was seen holding his hamstring.
While the severity of that injury remains unknown, during his post-match interview David Moyes admitted that “they don’t look great” when discussing him and Orel Mangala who got hurt during the game.
Calvert-Lewin has scored three goals and provided one assist in his 22 Premier League appearances this season, but it’s unclear when he will be fit and available to return at this stage.
Goals have been hard to come by for the Merseyside giants this season, with only Southampton scoring fewer than them in this campaign so far.
That is why fans are now urging Everton’s hierarchy to back Moyes in the January transfer window to sign another striker.
Everton fans want a new striker this month
Everton fans believe it is going to be crucial that the club find a new striker this month if Calvert-Lewin’s injury becomes serious.
The England international is also out of contract at the end of this season, and could depart Goodison Park on a free transfer if a new deal isn’t reached.
That further stresses the need for Everton to bring in a replacement, with fans urging that they “need some activity.”
