Everton handed ‘massive boost’ after ‘shock’ development – pundit

Everton have been handed a “massive boost” after Burnley sacked Sean Dyche.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the “shock” departure.

On Friday (15 April) Burnley announced Dyche, 50, had left the club along with his coaching staff.

This comes with Burnley sat in 18th-place and following a 2-0 loss to bottom side Norwich last weekend (10 April).

Everton are sat one place and four points above the Clarets after their win against Man United (9 April).

Kenny claims the Toffees now have the advantage in the relegation fight after Dyche’s sacking.

“I couldn’t believe it, what a shock. I thought he had enough in the bank after nine years there,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Even if they do go down, with the budget Burnley have, Dyche is the man to get them back up.

“He’s had them promoted a few times already, I don’t think the new owners get it.

“Everton are the ones who will benefit from this, I don’t know who will go to Burnley now.

“Dyche knows how to get out of a relegation fight, I think he would have caused Everton some problems.

“I don’t see that happening now.”

Everton fans cheering

Everton are next in action against Leicester City on Wednesday (20 April).

Burnley face West Ham on Sunday (17 April) looking to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat.

In other news, pundit suggests Dele Alli may have downed tools and now faces “big problem” at Everton.
