Everton have been hit by ‘another big blow’ after insider’s Gray injury update – pundit

Paul Robinson fears Everton do not have the squad depth to cope with Demarai Gray’s injury.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League goalkeeper claimed the 25-year-old’s lay-off is “another big blow” for Rafael Benitez’s side.

Gray was forced off through injury after just 17 minutes at Manchester City on Sunday.

According to Blues insider The Bobble (November 22nd), the winger could be out for six weeks with an abductor problem.

Such a lay-off would see Gray miss nine fixtures Premier League fixtures.

Robinson confessed to being been surprised by Gray’s “amazing” performances since returning to England.

“It’s another big blow for Everton,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“They have had a lot of injury troubles this season. They have had a horrendous run of results but they have suffered with injuries to key personnel in key positions.

“Gray has been amazing this year. I have seen him live a couple of times and I’ve been really impressed.

“I have to hold my hands up, he is a better player than I gave him credit for. He was a very astute signing by Benitez.

“Everton’s problem is their squad is not big enough to cope with their amount of injuries. They struggle without key players.”

Everton signed Gray from Bayer Leverkusen on a three-year contract in July.

He has contributed three goals and two assists in 12 Premier League appearances this season.
