Everton have ‘brilliant’ player who can cross like Alexander-Arnold – pundit
Frank McAvennie has compared Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny to Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The former Celtic hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, was blown away by what he saw from the Toffees ace last season.
Kenny, 24, starred in an unfamiliar left-back role as Frank Lampard recorded his first league victory in charge of Everton with a 3-0 win over Leeds United on 12 February.

He also started at left-back as the Toffees lost 2-0 to Southampton on Saturday (19 February).
Kenny was on loan at Celtic during the second half of last season and McAvennie was impressed with what he saw.
He claims the defender reminded him of Liverpool star Alexander-Arnold.
“People said Jonjoe Kenny did nothing for Celtic,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“But in those first couple of games he reminded me of Trent Alexander-Arnold with his crossing.
“The way he was getting down that wing, he was brilliant. He would have had a load more assists if Celtic had a striker who could move.
“Albian Ajeti was up front at the time and he wouldn’t make those runs into the box.
“Any other striker would have given Kenny so many assists. I would have been on the end of all of his crosses.
“I felt for Kenny because Celtic were in transition at the time but there is no doubting his ability.
“Lampard will give these players a chance, we saw that at Chelsea.“

Kenny made 16 appearances for Celtic after joining the club during January 2021.
He also picked up four assists while only playing in three losses under the management of John Kennedy.
