Everton have ‘last chance’ to agree ‘big’ Jordan Pickford fee – pundit
Everton need to cash in on Jordan Pickford this summer if they want to secure a big fee.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Leeds and Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson claimed that the upcoming transfer window is the Toffees’ final chance to bag a significant fee for the shot-stopper.
Pickford, 30, has been a standout amid the Merseysiders’ turbulent season and has been widely linked with a move to Chelsea in the off-season.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider (7 April) that Everton will demand between £30-40million for the England number one this summer and he is one of many key stars at Goodison Park who could be sold.
Everton to cash in on Jordan Pickford this summer?
Robinson claimed that a move to Chelsea would “suit” Pickford and suggested it may prove a boost for his ambitions to stay as the Three Lions’ top pick.
“If you look at Chelsea now, you’d argue they’re in the same place as where they were last year,” he told Football Insider.
“Their performances are better and he will be more financially rewarded than at Everton.
“There’s a better chance of European football at Chelsea and they’re a bigger and better club than Everton right now.
“From Everton’s point of view and considering Pickford is 30, this is their last chance to get a big transfer fee for him.
“If he stays at Everton for another two or three seasons, the fee will be different.
“Goalkeepers can play for longer, but Pickford will want to test himself higher up the league.
“Granted, it’s not much higher up the league as things stand, but they’re a wealthy club who are looking to progress.

“For Pickford’s England ambitions, Chelsea would suit him.
“Chelsea need him as their current goalkeepers aren’t good enough.”
