Sources: Everton offer recruitment role to Steve Hitchen after ‘unimpressive’ interview
Everton have offered the director of football role to Steve Hitchen as they close in on landmark appointment, Football Insider understands.
Owner Farhad Moshiri has given the green light to Hitchen taking over the role that’s been vacant since Marcel Brands’ December sacking.
An Everton source has told Football Insider that negotiations are now taking place over the contract and salary package before it is rubberstamped.

It is believed, the source explained, that Hitchen was “unimpressive” during the interview process conducted by the board.
But Moshiri, who is being closely advised by super agent Kia Joorabchian, has made it clear that he wants the former Tottenham man at the helm.
That appears to be enough for a deal to be completed and it could get done soon.
Hitchen ended his lengthy association with Spurs last Wednesday (2 February), when it was announced that he had left his position as technical performance director with immediate effect.
The 45-year-old’s responsibilities had been diluted following the appointment last summer of Fabio Paratici as the managing director.
Paratici took immediate charge of transfer and contract negotiations, and that saw Hitchen become less influential at the club.
He was subsequently linked with Everton, who have been without a director of football following the sacking of Brands.
Man United could also offer a role to Hitchen were Mauricio Pochettino to become their new manager this summer as the two remain close friends.

Hitchen was a scout at Tottenham between 2005 and 2010.
He returned to the club in a more senior role in 2017, heading up their recruitment for a number of years.
