Everton in line for ‘massive overhaul’ after major development – pundit
Everton must conduct a “massive overhaul” of their decision-makers after surviving relegation from the Premier League.
That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about how the club must change this summer.
Everton secured their Premier League status with a 3-2 win over Crystal Palace on Thursday (19 May).
Much of the season has been spent fighting relegation despite a promising start under former boss Rafael Benitez.
McAvennie insists the club must learn from the mistakes they made earlier this season but admits wholesale change will be hard to accomplish in one summer.
“They had so much momentum after the game the other night,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I think going 2-0 down was a bit of a reality check for them. The task is now to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
“There are a few problems that need sorting, god knows how much money they are allowed to spend.
“I’m not sure how many players will be able to come in, it probably depends on how many are able to leave.
“Everton are a massive club and they should not be in this situation again.
“The first thing they need to do is have a massive overhaul of the people who have been making decisions there over the last few years.
“Whatever they have been doing has been awful for a long time.”

Everton face Arsenal on the final day of the season (22 May).
They could finish as high as 15th if results go their way.
