Everton may have found ideal Richarlison replacement after £30m news – pundit

Armando Broja could be the ideal replacement for Richarlisona at Everton, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Everton did very well to offload Richarlison for £60million and spending £30million of that on Broja would be good business.

Sky Sports reported last week (1 July) that Richarlison had completed his move to Spurs for an initial £50million fee with a further £10million in add-ons.

The Daily Mail reported on Monday (4 July) that the Toffees have now made contact with Chelsea over Broja with a fee of around £30million mooted.

The 20-year-old striker spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Southampton and is valued at £30million by Chelsea.

“I think he’s a top player,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“If that’s the price then I’d definitely go for it if I am Everton.

“To get £50million, £60million for Richarlison is very good business for Everton. He’s hot and cold, he rolls on the floor. I think he’s a good player but not a great player.

“At Spurs he will play, but he won’t be a guaranteed starter. For me, that’s a great piece of business for Everton.

“I’m sure if they can get Broja in they will do that. Frank Lampard will have connections at Chelsea still so maybe that can help sort a deal.

“Everton definitely have to start getting busy because the season starts in a month’s time and they don’t want to get left behind and be in another relegation battle next season.”
