Everton must stick with Frank Lampard as club board slammed – ‘it’s a shambles’, says pundit

Sacking Frank Lampard may have no impact at Everton as the whole club is “a shambles”.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about what needs to change at Goodison.

Everton sit second-bottom of the Premier League, level on points with bottom club Southampton after losing to the Saints on Saturday (14 January).

The Toffees have won just three of their 19 Premier League games this season.

Everton fans staged a sit-in protest against the club’s board after the loss to Southampton, with many criticising Bill Kenwright.

Lampard remains under pressure but McManus claims that bringing a new manager in will have little impact.

“Lampard isn’t the best manager in the world but there are far bigger problems at that club,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“It’s a shambles. The ownership doesn’t listen to the fans. The players aren’t good enough either. I don’t see how a new manager comes in and changes things.

“The players aren’t underperforming, they’re just not very good. It’s that simple. I don’t think they are going to sign anyone this month either.

“Ultimately, it’s Lampard who is going to lose his job but then you have to think who replaces him, who wants that job?

“That’s the life of a manager though. Lampard knows that too, I think he’s got a really hard job.”

Everton

Everton are next in action against West Ham on Saturday (21 January).

The Hammers are level on points with the Toffees but sit one place above them in the table.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed club chiefs could trigger a Financial Fair Play workaround to bring David Moyes back to Everton.
