Everton news: Anthony Gordon ‘guaranteed game time’ amid Mason Mount and Reece James verdicts – pundit

Everton youngster Anthony Gordon could follow in the footsteps of Mason Mount and Reece James under Frank Lampard, according to Paul Robinson.

The former England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 20-year-old will be “guaranteed game time” under the new Toffees boss.

Gordon played 73 minutes as Lampard registered a 4-1 FA Cup fourth-round victory over Brentford in his first match in charge of Everton on Saturday (5 February).

Speaking post-match and quoted by the Telegraph, the former Chelsea boss claimed Gordon “can go a long way” and praised the youngster’s “great quality”.

Robinson suggested the pair could strike up a “really ideal relationship” at Goodison Park.

“He’s a top-class young player,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“There isn’t a better manager to learn under than Frank Lampard. Look at what he’s done with the likes of Mason Mount and Reece James, to name just a couple.

“Not just at Chelsea, but Derby as well. He’s got a real track record.

“That’s one thing that will be guaranteed for Gordon – game time. He’s got a real opportunity, and Lampard won’t be afraid to play him in the really big games.

“Frank can nurture him and bring him on. It could be a really ideal relationship.”

The midfielder came through the ranks at Goodison Park and is contracted until 2025.
