Everton news: Dele Alli was badly treated at Tottenham – Kenny

Paddy Kenny insists it will take time for Dele Alli to find his best form at Everton following his January move from Tottenham.

The former Leeds United stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted after the midfielder made his Toffees debut.

Alli, 25, made his Everton debut on Tuesday (8 February) against Newcastle, replacing the injured Demarai Gray after 25 minutes.

The debutant was robbed by Joe Willock in the buildup to Newcastle’s second goal and struggled to create chances at the other end of the pitch.

Kenny insists it will take Alli time to get up to speed after barely playing during his final months at Tottenham.

“I think it’s a case of him getting up to speed,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“You can’t judge him after one game. He hasn’t had a lot of game time and he’s just like everybody else.

“It can take a few games to get up to match speed and I’m sure once Dele gets more games under his belt he will come good for Everton.

“Working under Frank Lampard can only help becuase he was an unbelievable player.

“You just have to give him time. He’s not going to come in straight away and start doing it.

“Not after how he was treated at Tottenham over the last few years.”

Alli, 25, joined Everton on deadline day after falling out of favour at Tottenham.

The same day, Sky Sports reported the midfielder could cost Everton up to £40million with the deal structured around performance-based add-ons.
